Thank you to Garbriella B. for allowing us to view her Kinetic Energy GIF.
Module 1 Learning Goals: Students will describe the scientific processes used by the scientific community for expanding knowledge, compare and contrast various forms of matter and energy and their properties, collect scientific measurements and perform calculations using scientific units.
Module 2 Learning Goals: Students will describe how the Atomic Model has changed over time including the experiments and the Scientists involved in it development, use Avogadro’s number and atomic mass values to complete mathematical conversions, describe the quantum model of the atom in terms of the properties and arrangement of electrons. Module 3 Learning Goals: Students will explain how name ionic and covalently bonded compounds and compare and contract different types of chemical bonds. Module 4 Learning Goals: Students will compare and contrast chemical and physical changes and properties, identify and balance different types of chemical reactions, use the mole ratio to solve stoichiometry problems. Module 5 Learning Goals: Students will identify and balance different types of chemical reactions, use the mole ratio to solve stoichiometry problems. Module 6 Learning Goals: Students will understand the relationship between the four states of matter. Module 7 Learning Goals: Students will understand the concepts of chemical equilibrium. Module 8 Learning Goals: Students will compare and contrast acid and base reactions based on their chemical properties, |

Chemistry Resources
I have great news!!! OCVS is now offering On-demand tutoring for Chemistry Students through Smarthinking, not cost to you. If you need help working out a problem or have a concept you are struggling with, you can access the tutoring link in the course. It is a new blue button on the left side of your Chemistry course screen, it reads “Ask a Tutor”.
The Smarthinking On-Demand tutoring service it available on Sunday through Thursday 9am to 2am and Friday and Saturday 12noon to 6pm. There is no password required, but you will put your first name in to login to the Smarthinking website. After you login to the website you will want to select the course you want help. You will select “General Chemistry”
Of course I am still available for tutoring. Just setup a flash appointment for tutoring and we can do one-on-one tutoring over the phone or through Blackboard Collaborate. The Smarthinking Tutoring Service is made available to you so you have more options and flexibility to get extra help in your Chemistry course.
We are testing this tutoring system, so I need a few students to try it out and give me your opinion of the new tutoring service. If you try Smarthinking Chemistry tutoring please let me know what you think of this service. If my students find it useful, Mrs Gurley, the OCVS Principal, will subscribe to the service for our Chemistry Student long term.
I am look forward to hearing about your Smarthinking experience.
